Marie Curie Researcher

2014 Apr  - 2017 Mar

Since the beginning of 2014 until March 2017, I was involved in the European Industrial Doctorate Programme - RetNet. Thanks to that programme, I was:

  • an industrial Ph.D. student at the School of Innovation, Design, and Engineering at Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden,

  • and employed at TTTech Computertechnik AG in Vienna, Austria as a Marie Curie researcher.

Based in Vienna, I was often in Västerås for short time business trips (project meetings, EU reporting), as well as for periods three months in order to attend to courses needed for the Ph.D. degree.

Apart from the Ph.D. studies, my main job as a Marie Curie researcher at the company can be summarized as follows:

  • Research in the field of real-time, safety, sensor-fusion, and autonomous vehicles,

  • Documenting the research results in the form of scientific papers and submitting to relevant scientific conferences,

  • Attending and presentation at scientific conferences,

  • Writing of technical patents and posters,

  • And just as important, implementing the research work on automotive compliant embedded platforms for experimenting and demonstration purposes.

Few of the papers can be found under the following list:

  • Improving Dependability of Vision-Based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Using Navigation Data and Checkpoint Recognition, at Springer International Conference on Computer Safety, Reliability & Security [link to download]

  • Deterministic Ethernet: Addressing the Challenges of Asynchronous Sensing in Sensor Fusion Systems at IEEE DSN workshop on Safety and Security of Intelligent Vehicles [link to paper]

  • Improving Intelligent Vehicle Dependability by Means of Infrastructure-Induced Tests, at IEEE DSN workshop on Safety and Security of Intelligent Vehicles [link to paper]

MC Researcher

KNAPP Automated Warehouse Specialist

2012 Nov - 2013 Jun

This short time job in the automated warehouse was in parallel to my master degree studies. After finishing the semester studies, I left the job for the sake of writing my master thesis abroad.

Despite the short period, I had the chance to work in a very exciting work environment. My main duty was related to organizing and carrying out all activities related to the maintenance of the warehouse.

Leaving this job position was not easy due to the great bound with the colleagues.

KNAPP

Automation Engineer trainee

2010 Jun - Sept & 2012 Jun - Sept

One of the tipping points during my student years.

It is a big challenge to get a competent knowledge in the area of study during the university years. The theoretical lectures at the university were obviously not enough. Hence, I decided to apply for an internship in Carlsberg Bulgaria.

Working as a future automation engineer, I was involved in a variety of tasks, beginning with maintenance and electrical scheme wiring to programming and setup of programmable logic controllers (PLC), frequency inverters and smart relays.

The experience gained during both internships was the base for my career as an automation engineer.

Naturally, the better understanding of beer production process made me a future fan of the Pivo. Cleary in a reasonable amount. Cheers!
